Cristina Perez Hesano Spotlights Women Trial Attorneys in FOX 10 News Interview
The segment highlights a conversation about increasing representation and support for Latina and women trial attorneys in Arizona, where they currently make up only about 2 percent of the field. Cristina Perez of Perez Law Group and Rhonda Kelso discussed the creation of a women’s group within the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, launched in 2022 to provide a safe, supportive space for women plaintiff attorneys.
The group was founded to offer mentorship, community, and practical resources. What started with about 100 members has grown to 175 in just a few years. Members connect through monthly virtual meetings that encourage open discussion about professional and personal challenges, including childcare, case strategy, and navigating difficult legal situations. The group also provides shared legal resources such as pleadings, a document library, and continuing legal education opportunities created by and for women.
The leaders emphasized the importance of visibility and representation, noting that having a women-specific group helps build confidence, foster relationships, and signal that women trial lawyers are a strong and growing force in Arizona. Membership is open to women who join the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, and participation in the women’s group is free.
