Cristina Perez Hesano interviewed on Horizonte discussing Latina lawyers and representation in Arizona

Cristina Perez Hesano Featured on Arizona PBS’s Horizonte: Expanding Support for Latina Lawyers in Arizona

Perez Law Group, PLLC is proud to share that our founder, Cristina Perez Hesano, was recently featured on Horizonte to discuss an important issue in the legal profession: increasing representation and support for Latina lawyers.

In the interview, Cristina highlights a powerful reality. Although Latinas make up a significant part of the population, only about 2 percent of lawyers in the United States are Latina. This gap is even more visible in leadership, partnership, and executive roles across the legal field.

After building a successful law firm in 2010 focused on personal injury and wrongful death cases, Cristina recognized a deeper issue within the profession. Many women, especially women of color, lacked access to mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to grow as trial lawyers.

This realization led her to create a mentorship and leadership network that has grown into a statewide community of more than 100 women attorneys. What started as small conversations has evolved into Women of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, now officially recognized as part of the Arizona Association for Justice.

Cristina’s mission is clear. She wants to ensure that the next generation of Latina lawyers sees themselves in positions of leadership and influence.

As she shared during the interview, when young girls see women leading in the legal profession, it sends a powerful message: “I can do that too.”

At Perez Law Group, we believe representation matters. We are committed to empowering future leaders, supporting our community, and continuing to create pathways for women in law.
